Tonight at 9 PM EST, (6 PM PT) the 2016 North American Challenger series will look to conclude with the finals, Team Liquid Academy vs. Cloud 9 Challenger. On both of these teams there are new rookie talents combined with former LCS fan favorites, from Piglet on TLA, and to LemonNation on C9C. As a result of these interesting rosters, this Challenger Series final is likely to attract fans who otherwise would not watch the Challenger Series. Whether you’re an avid challenger fan or just a fan of the players participating this time around – here is everything you need to know about tonight’s match.

Tonight’s matches will be in a best-of-5 format. During the regular season, the NACS used the same format of the one used in the EULCS, for instance, BO2s. Both TLA and C9C finished the regular split without a single defeat: C9C finished with a record of 3W-2T-0L, while TLA finished with 2W-3T-0L. These two teams have faced off earlier this split, but have not done so since the first week of the NACS. In their last face off, the two tied, with the first game going to C9C and the second going to TLA.

What’s on the line? For this match, not much is on the line for the two teams. As a result of their success thus far, both of them will be advancing to the NA LCS Promotion Tournament, which takes place on August 4th to August 6th.  They will be facing bottom LCS teams in order to fight for a spot in the 2017 NA LCS Spring Split.

The previous two teams who failed to make it to the NACS Finals (Nova and Dream Team) will be given a chance to participate in the NA Challenger Series next year, allowing them a shot to make the NA LCS promotional tournament at the end of the 2017 Spring Split.
