H2K-Gaming and Cloud9, the only European and North American, respectively, teams still in contention for the Summoner’s Cup, received a direct invitation to the 2017 IEM World Championship, which will be taking place in March, in Katowice, Poland, IEM announced today.

According to ESL, in order to receive an invite to the event, a team must “achieve Top 8 at Worlds as the top performing team from (their) region.” H2K and C9 become thus the second and third teams with a spot secured at the IEM World Championship, after CIS’s Albus NoX Luna were also invited, after managing to be the first team from a Wildcard region to qualify to a World Championship playoffs.
